The title of this story may look familiar if you’ve been following my blog for a long time. I did write a version of this story back in 2015, but now I’m doing a new version which is significantly different and I think much better. It certainly reflects who I am as a writer now over back then (with its themes and such).
If you like magic, fantasy, or comedy, this will probably be of interest to you.
Lyra Indaril has a strange power that gets her apprenticed to the witch Nui Avina. Lyra can control demons just by singing. This power becomes invaluable as demons are quite a problem for many people and she begins using this power to help people, so long as they have the money to pay for it. When Lyra is approached by the wizard Zultio, he tells her about his demon problem and hopes she can help. When she goes to see just what the problem is she realizes that she’s in way over her head, but at this point there’s no going back either.
This version of the story is a middle-grade comedic fantasy that’s not quite as dark as previous versions have been. Along with that, there’s also no romance like there had been in previous versions. I’m quite excited to be writing this story and working with these characters again. It’s happy and funny and it just makes me feel good to be working on it.
Warning: this story will contain dangerous amounts of sass.
